Sun shining through clouds with open Bible

Welcome to the Bible study

Tell me the stories of Jesus
I love to hear;
Things I would ask Him to tell me
if He were here.
(William H. Parker)

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Jesus were here to tell us the Bible stories?  What would we ask Him?  What would He tell us?  How would we respond?  Would we listen and follow Him, even lay down our lives for Him, like the disciples did?  Or would we turn away, like the rich young man?

One thing Jesus might do is help us understand the Bible.  When He was with His disciples, He often explained the parables that He told, so that they would understand their deeper meanings.  Before Jesus left this earthly plane, He promised to return and tell more.  He said, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.  (John 16:12-13)

This Bible study is based on the understanding that the Christ, the Annointed One, the Spirit of Truth, has returned in the glory of the Father, and that He has told us things that we always longed to hear.  He has shown us things to come.  As with His first advent, He came in an unexpected way, and as promised He came as a thief in the night.  The Bible serves as our guide to discover and validate the return of Christ, and as we recognize Him in His new name, we can use His guidance to help unlock the seals, open our eyes, and reach a deeper understanding of the Bible.
